Drumcondra in Dublin is the birthplace of Peggy Fleming. In July 1952 her employment by Bord na Móna began in the personnel department on Pembroke Street. Her duties involved dealing with the administration of sick leave, recruitment and conditions of employment. Later, she also dealt with pensions and she describes her work in some detail. The Personnel Manager in the early days was Kevin Howard and when he died unexpectedly his job was taken over by Bill Foley. In the 1960s, Bord na Móna staff had a drama group and a choir in which she was involved. In this recording, Peggy describes the departments and their managers, the location of each department in Pembroke Street, and makes a special mention of Miss Flynn, Chief Accountant “who ruled the roost from the top floor”. Peggy retired in 1993.
